Moves Dance Studio has offered kids dance classes in Wheaton, IL since 1987. From first-time dancers taking their first ballet class to experienced teens training for competition, we have a program for every child — and every goal.
Our instructors are passionate, experienced, and dedicated to helping every student grow — not just technically, but in confidence, discipline, and character.
Finding the Right Class for Your Child
We group students by age and skill level so every child is challenged and supported at the right level.
Ages 4–6
Combo classes blending ballet, tap, and jazz fundamentals. Focus is on fun, creativity, and building a love of movement. Classes: Itty Bitties, Twinkle Toes.
Ages 7–12
Dedicated classes by style — ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, lyrical, and acro. Students can explore multiple styles and find their favorites.
Ages 13–18
Advanced recreational and competitive training. Teens can pursue serious technique, participate in recitals, and — for the most dedicated — audition for Moves Dance Company (MDC).

Kids Dance Class FAQs
We welcome children starting at 18 months for toddler classes, and our standard kids programs begin at age 4. Research consistently shows that early dance training builds coordination, rhythm, focus, and social skills — the sooner, the better.
Not at all. The majority of our students start with zero dance experience. We have beginner-level classes for every age group. Your child will be placed in the right class based on their age and current skill level.
Absolutely. Boys are welcome in all of our classes. Hip-hop, acro, jazz, and contemporary are especially popular with our male students. We also have boys on our competitive team (MDC).
Yes! We hold an annual spring recital every May/June. All recreational and company students perform. Recital participation is included for enrolled students — it's one of the most exciting events of the year for our families.
Moves Dance Company (MDC) holds auditions every May for the following season. Dancers ages 3–18 are welcome to audition — no prior MDC experience required. Learn more on our MDC Auditions page.
