Broadway Babies, Twinkle Toes, and Dancing Stars... Kids really love to dance. This fun and exciting class inspires creativity and teaches the fundamentals of ballet, tap and tumbling. Students will develop coordination, strength, dance technique, rhythm, and body awareness in a caring, nurturing environment. This class is an excellent way for children to be introduced to the many benefits of the performing arts.
Broadway Babies: Ages 3-4 / TwinkleToe: Ages 4-6 / Dancing Stars: Ages 6-8 (Jazz/HIp Hop replaces tumbling at this age division).
Ballet... Beginning level classes focus on the basics of ballet including proper placement and posture; body positions, plies, tendus, battements, and port de bras. Emphasis will be placed on understanding technique, as well as instilling an appreciation and enjoyment of the movement. Advanced levels are a continual study of fundamentals, extended to emotional expression and precision, as well as developing fluid artistic control. Ballet is the basis of all other dance forms. We strongly encourage that ballet be taken in conjunction with any other dance class.
Floore Barre... Seeks to maximize competitive strength, endurance and toning of the body. This class includes Pilates, ballet and yoga techniques, and is highly recommended for serious dancers and athletes.
Hip-Hop... The hottest and latest dance steps, style, funk and street moves. Learn the latest dance moves from the east coast to the west coast, high energy, street grove and razor sharp action choreography. Great for fun, dance teams, dance technique and exercise!
Jazz Jam / Lyrical / Contemporary / Turns, Jumps & Tricks / Jazz... Learn the world’s cutting edge of new moves, as well as performance dynamics. Classes incorporate many different styles of the art form including lyrical (a style that evokes a feeling or emotion and has a theme or tells a story), theatrical (including Broadway, Swing, Charleston, Latin, and Jitterbug), and contemporary (relevant mix of Ballet, Jazz and Lyrical technique). All jazz classes will have a strong foundation in ballet with an emphasis on correct body alignment and technique. All classes focus on turns, jumps, leaps, increased flexibility, strength and an overall development of style. These classes are a must for pom pons, dance squads and orchesis enthusiasts.
Modern... These classes introduce the concepts of motion used by Graham, Ailey and Dunham. The basis of modern focuses on building strength and flexibility of the lower spine and pelvis. Flexibility and strength are fostered through components within exercises executed across the floor and in stationary positions.
Tap... Beginning level classes focus on learning basic rhythm patterns starting with simple combinations that include shuffles, flaps, stomps, riffs, pullbacks, etc. Advanced levels combine these in more complex rhythm and mixed meter combinations enabling students to slide easily between the styles of such performers as Fred Astaire, Bill “Bo Jangles” Robinson, Gene Kelly, Honi Coles and Savion Glover. All levels emphasize clarity of rhythm and sound, and the development of style through the use of the whole body.
Tumbling/Acrobats, Stunts and Tricks... This specialty class focuses on learning and mastering trick/tumbling oriented dance movement, skills and choreography. Great for dance teams, cheerleading and serious students of dance. Beginning level classes teach all basic tumbling skills with a focus on strength and flexibility. Advanced level classes build on executing and mastering more difficult tricks such as back handsprings, aerial cartwheels and back aerials.
